a. soil or habitat that has flooding, ponding or saturation of water for a long enough period of the growing season for the upper levels of soil to become anaerobic (lacking oxygen)
a. a habitat that has moderate amounts of moisture at least seasonally, wetter than xeric, dryer than hydric
