Dwarf Cypress - A forest of centuries-old cypress less than 15 feet tall

Welcome to the Paul Rebmann Nature Photography August 2016 Newsletter

Local subscribers note that Paul Rebmann will be presenting the narrated visual program on Florida endemic plants and animals titled Only in Florida for the inaugural Lunch and Learn at Ormond Beach's new Environmental Discovery Center this Thursday, August 18. Admission is free, but seating is limited so reservations are required. Call the Leisure Services Registration office to reserve your spot (386) 676-3250. Also in Ormond this month, there is a display of select Paul Rebmann Nature Photography images in the entrance window of the Ormond Beach Library. It's the east window along the north entrance from the plaza at city hall. This display will be up through August 30. For those too far away to visit, you can check out the online overview of the display at Wild Florida Photo - Ormond Beach Library

It seems that I am back in the state forests for this month's blog post about Dwarf Cypress trees. The two big strands of this phenomenon of centuries old pond cypress that grows less than fifteen feet tall are in southwest Florida in Picayune Strand State Forest and in Tate's Hell State Forest in the Florida panhandle. Read more at Dwarf Cypress - Paul Rebmann Nature Photography blog.
