This Eurasian native tree has escaped cultivation and is now occasionally found in disturbed sites from the central Florida peninsula northward into most of the United States, plus Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
White mulberry trees may grow up to 25m (82 ft.) tall. The alternate leaves are simple with toothed margins and up to nine lobes. The upper surface of the leaves are shiny and smooth, differentiating this species form red mulberry. The flowers are in small clusters, the male flowers elongated, the female flowers globular. The fruit is a white to pinkish (occasionally black) globular cluster 1-2cm (3/8 to 3/4 in.) long.
